Mortified

Event Details:

WBEZ proudly presents Mortified Live: Love Hurts – Valentine’s Day Edition. Join us for a night of humorous storytelling from everyday people in Chicago. We’ve all experienced some embarrassment in our lifetime. Come out and commiserate over some cold beverages at the historic Athenaeum Center.

This February, we’ll celebrate the pinnacle of humiliating holidays, Valentine’s Day. Witness “personal redemption through public humiliation” in a refreshing show that finds people reading aloud their most embarrassing, pathetic, and private teenage diary entries, poems, love letters, lyrics, and locker notes in front of total strangers. A show that’s equal parts comedic, cathartic and voyeuristic, Mortified is the largest and longest running project of its kind, featuring a cast of Chicago’s bravest souls and the Mortified Band performing some of your favorite guilty pleasures! Share the shame!

WHAT IS MOVIE CLUB BLOCK OF TEXT

The Stoop - WOMP WOMP

Join us for an evening of stories at Rosa's Lounge.

We been around for six-years. We ain't going anywhere.

A lot of our guest are not performers or writers but we are all characters in the story of our lives. This month however, I have invited some of my favorite writers and performers to welcome me back from a month long trip to Paris. I asked and they said yes.

That's why I love this show so much. We just BE. Nothing more, nothing less. Come through!

Featuring

Eric Garneau
John Capaul
Luke Warner

will be joined by me and my wonderful cohost/producer Jenny DeLessio-Parson.

The rest of the lineup just comes together organically because that is how the Stoop works. You show up, be present, and then listen to some music and go home.

Every other show is a show while the Stoop is more of an experience. Often imitated never duplicated. Whether it's 1 or 100 in the audience, we gon' kick it. We ain't got time to be stressed about filling seats and selling tickets. That's what show runners do. We only care that we have a space in the community to hear back from the community about the things that are going on with them.

We didn't invite people over, they just showed up and we gave them space.

Also, this doubles as a fundraiser for some great Stoopnanigans we have planned for 2020! COME THROUGH!!!!
